Exhibit Sway is Launched

Exhibit Sway launched its season this past Monday at Californos with a successful preview event. New works by Stayce Camparo, Logan Pachciarz, and Gabriel Davidsson were premiered along with artistic collaborations with artist, Ray Dalida, photographer, Brian Puyear, and costume designer, Joey Gee. This season promises to be exciting as we embark on a new frontier in the Kansas City Arts scene. Stay tuned as we announce our 2012 projects and collaborators, including visual artist, Elijah Gowin.

The start of an idea

As Exhibit Sway prepares for its initial season, choreographic exploration is already underway. Seven pieces are in the works to debut in 2012 including pieces from Kansas City Ballet’s Gabriel Davidsson. Having just choreographed with his brother, Jonathan, for a tour in Korea, Gabriel is developing his style as he takes on concepts both abstract and rare in dance. It is clear that Gabriel is influenced by European choreographers such as Jiri Kylian and Mats Ek from his uninterrupted movement structure and unique sense of kinetics. Inspired by piano and violin compositions, his themes are dreamy and deliver emotion that is carefully subjective.
Other pieces in the creative process are works by Curator, Stayce Camparo, and collaborative works by the entire ensemble. Make note that Exhibit Sway resides in the belief that commissioned works should constantly be moving and evolving. No piece will ever be done in the sense that it is stagnant. Therefore, no piece will ever be performed the same way twice.
